When some-thing Foundation launched in 2024 with a mission to make STEAM education accessible to everyone, it needed a digital platform as welcoming and innovative as the work it supports. some-thing Company helped bring the Foundation to life by designing and building a website that doesn't just inform—it invites, educates, and removes barriers to participation.

A Foundation Built to Fill the Gaps

The Foundation operates on a powerful model: 10% of some-thing Company's profits flow directly into grants and projects supporting STEAM education and innovation. This commitment responds to a troubling pattern in the STEAM landscape—talented individuals caught in layoffs, brilliant educational initiatives abandoned for lack of funding, and innovative learning tools left unrealized.

Design That Removes Barriers

The website embodies the belief that accessibility begins with clarity. some-thing Company created the Foundation's complete visual identity—including the distinctive hand-drawn logo and playful brand system—then designed every element with purpose, from the colorful aesthetic to the clean information architecture that guides visitors effortlessly through the Foundation's four core pillars.

No clutter, no confusion—just clear pathways to understanding how STEAM can be welcoming, not intimidating. The visual identity celebrates creativity while maintaining professional credibility, proving that work for social good deserves the same level of design excellence as commercial projects.

A Grant Program That Teaches

Launching in January 2026, the Foundation's first grant cycle offers five $1,000 grants—one for each STEAM discipline. But the grants page does more than list requirements; it educates applicants through the entire process.

"STEAM Grant Application Guide" with mission statement, "About This Grant Program" section listing five $1,000 grants for each STEAM discipline, and "How to Submit Your Application" with submission instructions

The application guide breaks down every section with plain language explanations, practical tips, and concrete examples. Applicants learn how to write clearly ("write like you're explaining to a friend"), budget realistically, and communicate their passion effectively. Whether someone is 8 or 80, a high school student or a professional researcher, they walk away with skills that extend far beyond this single grant opportunity.

The instructions even remind applicants to proofread and ask someone to review their work—not as bureaucratic demands, but as life skills modeled through thoughtful process design. Applications close February 15, 2026, with winners announced in March.

Building Free Resources for the STEAM Community

Beyond grants, the Foundation is developing free digital and physical educational resources for nonprofits and educators. These tools will provide accessible STEAM learning materials that remain available regardless of institutional budget cuts or shifting priorities—ensuring that quality education isn't held hostage to economic cycles.

A Platform Designed to Grow

Built on Squarespace with responsive design, the site functions seamlessly across all devices. The clean architecture makes it easy to add new grant cycles, showcase funded projects, and expand educational resources as the Foundation grows.

The Results: A Digital Foundation for Impact

The final product is more than a nonprofit website—it's a declaration that commercial success and social impact aren't separate paths, and that good design can remove barriers rather than create them. Every element, from the playful visual identity to the conversational grant guidance, invites participation and proves that STEAM education should be accessible to everyone.

With the first grant cycle now live and free educational resources in development, some-thing Foundation has a digital home that grows with its vision, educates as it informs, and channels commercial success directly into expanding STEAM opportunities for all.
